On or about April 15th, 2022, around 10:30 at night, a serious hit-and-run car accident with a pedestrian left a 14-year-old dead. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Pershing Drive in Lufkin, Texas.
Officials from the Texas DPS said an as-of-yet unidentified 14-year-old boy was killed when they were allegedly hit by a passing vehicle as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Pershing Drive. After the initial accident, the vehicle fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the intersection with Southwood Drive.
Authorities are still trying to track down the driver and vehicle that fled the scene.
