Details:
On or about Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, around 6:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left one person dead. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of East Riverside Drive and Montopolis Drive in Austin, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly hit by a passing vehicle as they were walking alongside or tried to cross the lanes of traffic at East Riverside Drive and Montopolis Drive. After the initial accident the vehicle fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the incident.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of East Riverside Drive and Montopolis Drive is on the southeast side of Austin.
Police are still investigating.
