On or about Tuesday, January 4th, 2021, around 6:11 in the morning, a serious hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left one individual dead. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the South Freeway service road not far from the intersection with West Belfort Avenue in Houston. Texas.
Officers from the Houston Police Department said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a passing vehicle as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the South Freeway service road. After the initial collision, the passenger vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the exchange of the South Freeway (Highway 288) and West Belfort Avenue is situated on the south side of Houston.
Police are still working to pin down the offending vehicle and driver.
