Details:
On or about Thursday, February 17th, 2022, sometime in the hours after dark, a major single-vehicle car accident left one individual dead. Department of Public Safety Troopers said the accident was reported along White Oak Road in Big Sandy, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives said one as-of-yet unidentified 17-year-old boy was killed and another 17-year-old boy was injured when the car they were in allegedly drove off the side of the roadway and slammed into several trees in a wooded patch a short distance off the pavement. Emergency responders pronounced the passenger in the vehicle dead a short time after the crash, while the driver was airlifted to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, Big Sandy is situated about 110 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
