Details:
On or about Saturday, December 11th, 2021, around 7:35 in the afternoon, an accident between a charter bus and a disabled pickup truck left one individual dead and sent another to the hospital. Officers from the EPPD and DPS Troopers said the accident was reported along U.S. Highway 54 in El Paso, Texas
Police officers said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and another was seriously injured when a Los Paisanos Lines allegedly slammed into a disabled Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck on Highway 54. Emergency responders pronounced the passenger in the pickup truck dead a short time after the collision, while emergency responders transported the driver of the pickup truck to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
Police have identified the driver of the Los Paisanos Lines bus as 54-year-old Guadalupe Alonso Maciel, who has since been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault in connection with the accident. Authorities believe Maciel was looking at his cell phone at the time of the collision.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
