On or about Thursday, July 7th, 2022, around 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a motorcycle and a passenger left one person dead and sent another individual to the hospital. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 56 and Highway 289 in Southmayd, Texas.
Representatives from the Texas Department of Public Safety said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and another person was injured when a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle collided under unspecified circumstances at Highway 56 and Highway 289. Emergency responders rushed the driver of the motorcycle to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.
According to Google Maps, Highway 289 cuts north and south, while Highway 56 cuts east and west.
Police are still investigating the collision.
