Details:
On or about Friday, November 12th, 2021, around 6:48 in the evening, an accident between a tractor-trailer and two pickup trucks claimed the life of an 81-year-old Twin Lake man and sent another person to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported at the intersection of 80th Road and Maple Island Road near Hart in Newaygo County, Michigan.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 81-year-old man was killed when the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck he was driving allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Maple Island Road and 80th Road when it struck a tractor-trailer. After the initial collision with the tractor-trailer, the Honda struck a nearby pickup truck. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the Honda dead at the scene, while the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Hart, which is about 76 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.
Police are still investigating the collision.
