On or about Monday, January 4th, 2021, around 11:15 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer left one person dead and sent another to the hospital. State Police said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 34 and Highway 281 in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Officers said one person was killed and another was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck a pickup truck that was turning onto Highway 34 from southbound Highway 281. After the collision, the tractor-trailer rolled in the roadway, killing the truck driver. Paramedics transported the driver of the pickup truck to CHI St. Francis Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Google Maps shows the intersection is governed by a traffic light, and is located on the southwest side of Grand Island.
Nebraska State Police are assisting local law enforcement with the investigation.
