On or about Friday, January 15th, 2021, around 2:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a car and an 18-wheeler left one person dead. Troopers from the ALEA said the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Fairfield in Jefferson County, Alabama.
Law enforcement spokespeople said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when her car allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of the interstate. Emergency responders pronounced one person dead after the accident, while a second person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No other vehicles were mentioned in the initial police statement.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is located about 8 miles west of downtown Birmingham.
