Details:
On or about Wednesday, June 16th, 2021, around 3:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and two people on a motorcycle left one woman dead and sent a man to the hospital. Deputies from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near the exchange with 8700 South in Sandy, Utah.
Police said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed and a man was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck them in the roadway following a previous accident. Emergency responders pronounced the female motorcycle passenger dead of her injuries, while the male driver was taken to the hospital with injuries of an unknown nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 15 runs north and south along the western edge of Sandy, which is about 17 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City.
Officials hope to release more information about the accident at a later date.
