On or about Wednesday, June 20th, 2021, around 1:45 in the morning, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a tractor-trailer left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital. Authorities from the ISP said the accident was reported on Interstate 295 near the exchange with 5th Avenue in Lyons, Illinois.
Law enforcement spokespeople said one as-of-yet unidentified man was killed, while a woman was hurt when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler that had slowed or stopped for construction traffic. One man was pronounced dead of his injuries after the accident, while a woman was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the collision.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 295 runs north and south through Lyons, which is about 14 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.
