On or about Friday, August 20th, 2021, around 10:45 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a disabled tractor-trailer left one person dead and sent another to the hospital. Authorities said the accident was reported along Interstate 44 near downtown St. Louis, Missouri.
Officials from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified tractor-trailer driver was killed and the driver of a Ford Escape SUV was injured when the SUV allegedly struck the back of the disabled tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck was outside the vehicle at the time of the accident, and died a short time after the collision. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 44 runs east and west through St. Louis, with the scene of the accident situated not far from downtown.
