On or about Friday, April 30th, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left one person dead and sent another to the hospital in critical condition. Officials from the OSHP said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 71 near the exchange with Highway 62 in Columbus, Ohio.

Law enforcement sources said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when the tractor-trailer they were in allegedly skidded off the side of the interstate and rolled when it struck a tree. Emergency responders pronounced a passenger in the truck dead at the scene, while the truck driver was rushed to a nearby hospital where they were last reported in critical condition by medical staff.

Interstate 71 runs north and south through the center of Columbus, with the Highway 62 exchange situated on the south side of Columbus, according to Google Maps.
