One Killed, Jamie Sanchez Injured in Box Truck vs. Tractor-Trailer Accident on Interstate 78 in Berks County

On or about Friday, January 14th, 2022, around 5:30 in the morning, an accident between a box truck and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead and sent another to the hospital. Representatives from the PSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 78 not far from the exchange with Route 61 in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Spokespeople from the Pennsylvania State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and 44-year-old Jamie Sanchez was injured when the box truck Sanchez was driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of I-78. Paramedics pronounced the passenger in the box truck dead a short time after the collision, while Sanchez was taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

Authorities have since charged Sanchez with of homicide by vehicle, and another of other charges in connection with the accident.

Multiple agencies from the surrounding area assisted after the accident.
