On or about Saturday, March 5th, 2022, sometime in the hours after dark, a major accident between a Penske truck and a pickup truck towing a car hauler left one person dead. Investigators from the GSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 95 in Chatham County, Georgia.
Spokespeople from the Georgia State Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when a Penske truck allegedly veered off the road and struck a pickup truck towing a car hauler and a pedestrian on the side of I-95. Authorities believe the driver of the Penske truck may have fallen asleep in the moments before the accident. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 95 winds north and south through Chatham County.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
