On or about Wednesday, February 24th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a school bus claimed the life of an 81-year-old woman. Officials said the accident happened along Nassau Road near the intersection with Weidner Avenue in Oceanside on Long Island, New York.
Authorities said an 81-year-old woman was killed when she was allegedly hit by an eastbound school bus while she was walking along or attempting to cross the roadway. First responders rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
Nassau Avenue cuts east and west through Oceanside, which is seated on the southern edge of long island.
Police are still examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
