Scooter Driver Killed in Dump Truck Accident on Watt Avenue in North Highlands

On or about Friday, December 11th, 2020, around 6:10 in the morning, an accident between a scooter driver and a dump truck left one person dead. California Highway Patrol said the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Watt Avenue near the intersection with Roseville Road in North Highlands, California.

Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 50-year-old man was killed when he was allegedly struck by a dump truck after he fell in a previous accident. Emergency responders pronounced the scooter driver dead of his injuries a short time after he was struck. The driver of the dump truck did not report injuries after the accident.

According to Google Streetview, Watt Avenue is six lanes, with a curbed, grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic. North Highlands is located about 12 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento.

Police are still examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
