On or about Sunday, August 22nd, 2021, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck, a motorcycle, a van, and a pickup truck left one person dead and sent six other people to the hospital. Troopers from the CSHP said the accident was reported along Highway 24 near the intersection with Log Road just outside Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed and six others were hurt when a dump truck allegedly struck a van, and a pickup truck in the oncoming lanes of Highway 24. A motorcycle allegedly crashed in order to avoid the collision with the dump truck. Paramedics pronounced the of the van dead a short time after the collision, while two people in the pickup truck and the motorcycle were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Three other people were also hurt in the crash.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Peyton, which is about 24 miles northeast of Colorado Springs.

Authorities are still examining the cause of the incident.
