On or about Friday, December 24th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, a major chain-reaction accident with two tractor-trailers and seven other vehicles left one individual dead and sent six other people to the hospital. Troopers from the CHP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of the 5 Freeway in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

Authorities from the LAPD said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and six other people were injured when two tractor-trailers and seven other vehicles collided in a serious chain-reaction pileup accident on the 5 Freeway. Police did not indicate what may have started the accident, only that one person died after the collision, while six others were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 3 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

Police are still investigating the crash.
