On or about Friday, April 2nd, 2021, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer, a commercial van, a pickup truck, and two other vehicles left one individual dead and sent three others to the hospital. State Police said the accident happened on the westbound side of Interstate 26 in Calhoun County, South Carolina.
Police said a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the back of a Chevrolet Express van, pushing the van into two nearby vehicles and a pickup truck. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the tractor-trailer dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Chevrolet Express, as well as two people from another car were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries after the accident.
Interstate 26 runs east and west through Calhoun County, which is about 42 miles south of downtown Columbia, according to Google Maps.
South Carolina State Police are investigating the accident.
