On or about Wednesday, April 14th, 2021, around 7:06 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a flatbed truck left one woman dead and sent three people to the hospital. Troopers from the FHP said the accident was reported on the southbound side of Interstate 75 in Columbia County, Florida.
Police said a flatbed truck was parked on the southbound shoulder of Interstate 75 when an SUV allegedly struck it from behind. Paramedics pronounced a 62-year-old passenger in the SUV dead at the scene, while the driver and two children were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the flatbed truck was uninjured.
Interstate 75 runs north and south through the center of Columbia County, which is about 59 miles west of Jacksonville.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
