On or about Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer, a box truck, and an SUV left one person dead and sent three others to the hospital. Troopers from the FHP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 75 just outside Bushnell in Sumter County, Florida.

Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed and three others were hurt when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of an SUV in stopped or slowed traffic, pushing the SUV in to the rear of a box truck ahead. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the tractor-trailer dead a short time after the accident, while two people in the SUV and the driver of the box truck were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 75 runs north and south through Sumter County, which is about 55 miles west of Orlando.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene of the accident.
