On or about Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, around 8:05 in the morning, an accident between a car, a commercial van, and a tractor-trailer claimed one life and sent three others to the hospital. Authorities said the accident happened at the intersection of Route 60 and Wilson Road in Wauconda Township, Illinois.

Troopers from the ISP said a passenger vehicle allegedly failed to yield at Route 60 while traveling southbound on Wilson Road when it struck an 18-wheeler. After the initial collision, the tractor-trailer struck a commercial driven by a 56-year-old man. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the commercial van dead at the scene. Two people in the car and the driver of the 18-wheeler were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Looking at the scene on Google Maps shows Route 60 runs east and west with two lanes, while Wilson Road runs north and south. Only Wilson Road had a stop sign at the intersection. Wauconda is located about 44 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.

Police expect to release more information about the accident at a later date.
