Authorities have reason to believe an as-of-yet unidentified 63-year-old man was killed, while three other people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into traffic that had stopped for a previous accident. One man, who was driving the pickup truck that is believed to have been hit by the semi first, was pronounced dead a short time after the accident. Six other vehicles were ensnared in the crash, and three people were taken from the scene to be treated for unspecified injuries.
Looking at Florida’s Turnpike on Google Streetview shows a four lane major roadway, with a grassy median and barrier dividing north and southbound traffic. The scene of the crash is situated just north of Port St. Lucie, Florida.
State and local law enforcement are still investigating the incident.
