On or about Friday, May 4th, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a tow truck left one individual dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported on the westbound side of Highway 183 in Irving, Texas.

Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified pedestrian was killed when they were allegedly struck by a tow truck as they were attempting to tend to the scene of a previous accident. Police believe the victim parked their vehicle on the eastbound side of Highway 183 and was working their way to the scene of the previous incident when they were struck. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Highway 183 runs east and west between Dallas and Fort Worth, with the scene of the accident not far from the Belt Line exit.

Police are still investigating the accident.
