On or about Monday, November 30th, 2021, around 4:30 in the afternoon, a major accident between a passenger vehicle and a flatbed tow truck left one man dead. Officials from the ISP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 55 in McLean County, Illinois.

Law enforcement representatives said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly struck the back of a flatbed tow truck that was tending to a vehicle on I-55. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead of their injuries a short time after the collision.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 55 winds north and south through McLean County, which is about 128 miles south of Chicago.

State and local authorities assisted after the accident.
