On or about Monday, January 3rd, 2022, around 7:45 in the evening, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of one individual. Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported in the 2600 block of 34th Avenue West in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Officials from the Minnesota State Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and jackknifed across all the lanes of 34th Avenue when another vehicle struck the tractor-trailer. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the passenger vehicle dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the collision. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Alexandria is situated about 132 miles northwest of downtown Minneapolis.

Police are still investigating the incident.
