On or about Sunday, February 20h, 2022, around 11:45 at night, a major accident between a tanker truck and an SUV left one individual dead. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the Alcoa Highway near Topside Road in Alcoa, Tennessee.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the SUV they were in and a tanker truck collided under unspecified conditions. After the initial accident, the SUV rolled several times. Paramedics pronounced the drive of the SUV dead of their injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Alcoa is about 14 miles south of downtown Knoxville.
Police are still investigating the accident.
