On or about Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, around 7:30 in the evening an accident between a tractor-trailer and a box truck claimed the life of one man. Troopers from the CHP said the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Barbara Worth Road in Calexico, California.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when they were hit by a tractor-trailer as they were walking along or trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Barbara Worth Road. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles or injuries in their initial statement.

According to Google Maps, Barbara Worth Road is two lanes in the area, which is nestled just north of the Mexican Border, about 116 miles east of San Diego.

Deputies from the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office are assisting CHP with the accident investigation.
