On or about Saturday, September 18th, 2021, around 1:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a cyclist claimed the life of one person. Authorities said the accident occurred at Broadway and East St. James Street in Kingston, New York.

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when they were allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer while they were riding their bike at or near the intersection of Broadway and East St. James Street. The cyclist died a short time after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if they died at the scene or after being taken to a nearby hospital.

According to Google Maps, Kingston is situated about 100 miles north of New York City.

Police are still investigating.
