On or about Sunday, September 26th, 2021, around 7:29 in the evening, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 77-year-old Newark resident. Representatives from the CHP said the accident was reported along Fairview Road just outside Hollister in San Benito County, California.
Deputies from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department said an as-of-yet unidentified 77-year-old man was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly turned from a private driveway across the lanes of Fairview Road and into the path of the victim’s vehicle.. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the collision.
According to Google Maps, Fairview Road runs north and south through San Benito County, with the scene of the collision a short distance east of Hollister.
Authorities are still examining the accident.
