On or about Sunday, December 5th, 2021, around 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left a woman dead. Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported in the 4700 block of First Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Law enforcement spokespeople said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the Nissan passenger vehicle they were driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked and making a delivery on the side of First Avenue North. Officials said the truck driver had just removed warning triangles in the moments before the collision. Emergency responders rushed the woman in the car to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the far west side of St. Petersburg.
Officials are still working to pin down all the factors that may have contributed to the incident.
