On or about Thursday, October 22nd, 2020, around 9:10 in the morning, an accident between a semi truck and a car claimed the life of a 23-year-old Gainesville resident. Highway Patrol said the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Osceola County, Florida.

Troopers from the FHP said that a 23-year-old man was killed when the car he was in allegedly lost control and struck the back of an 18-wheeler that was disabled with a flat tire in the breakdown lane. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the car dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unhurt.

Florida’s Turnpike in Osceola County is four lanes, with a wide grassy median dividing north and southbound traffic, according to Google Maps. Osceola County is located roughly 55 miles south of Orlando.

FHP Troopers hope to release more details about the accident as soon as they become available.
