On or about Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, around 11:15 at night, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer left a 23-year-old St. Augustine woman dead. Troopers from the FHP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 1 and Regalo Road in St. Johns County, Florida.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol said an as-of-yet unidentified 23-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer as the truck was attempting a U-turn and may have been blocking all the lanes of traffic. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead of her injuries after the collision, but it is not currently clear if she died at the scene or if she was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after the collision.
According to Google Maps, St. Johns County is about 32 miles south of downtown Jacksonville.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
