On or about Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, around 9:00 in the morning, a major tractor-trailer accident left one individual dead. Troopers from the SDHP said the accident was reported along Highway 19 in Clay County, South Dakota.

Authorities from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the SUV they were in allegedly drove over the center line of Highway 19 and slammed into a tractor-trailer in the oncoming lanes of the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced one person dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.

According to Google Maps, Clay County is about 48 miles northwest of downtown Sioux City.

State and local police assisted after the accident.
