On or about Monday, December 14th, 2020, around 4:40 in the afternoon, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle claimed the life of a 61-year-old man. State Troopers said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 19 and Tower Drive in Hudson, Florida.
Officers from the area said a northbound tractor-trailer allegedly attempted a U-turn and struck a southbound motorcycle. Paramedics rushed the 61-year-old man on the motorcycle to a nearby hospital where he died a short time after his arrival. The truck driver was unhurt in the collision.
According to Google Maps, Highway 19 is six lanes wide in the area, with a curbed median dividing north and southbound traffic. Hudson is located roughly 44 miles north of Tampa.
Florida Highway Patrol is assisting in the accident investigation.
