Details:
On or about Monday, April 12th, 2021, around 5:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and two cars left a 78-year-old man dead. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 23 and Haywood Road in Dillsboro, North Carolina.
Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into two cars that were stopped at the intersection. The tractor-trailer rolled onto the vehicles following the initial accident. One person was pronounced dead of their injuries a short time after the accident, but police did not indicate which vehicle they were in.
According to Google Maps, Dillsboro is roughly 167 miles west of the Charlotte area.
Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
