On or about Monday, November 8th, 2021, around 4:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car left one woman dead. Officials from the NCHP said the accident was reported along Highway 27 near the intersection with Delma Grimes Road in Coats, North Carolina.
Police said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck her car when she turned onto Highway 27. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the crash.
According to Google Maps, Highway 27 runs east and west through the northern edge of Coats, which is about 27 miles south of downtown Raleigh.
State and local law enforcement assisted after the accident.
