On or about Monday, July 12th, 2021, around 10:20 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a cyclist left one person dead. Deputies from the Gregg County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Highway 42 in Kilgore County, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said an as-of-yet unidentified cyclist was killed when they were struck by a tractor-trailer as they were riding their bike on Highway 42. Paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead a short time after the accident. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their initial report on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 42 runs north and south through Kilgore, with the scene of the accident situated a short distance north of the city center.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
