On or about Saturday, July 24th, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck left one person dead. Deputies from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Highway 59 near the exchange with Crabb River Road in Sugar Land, Texas.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when the Chevrolet pickup truck they were in and a tractor-trailer collided under unknown conditions. After the initial collision, the tractor-trailer rolled to one side, and both vehicles burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced one person from the pickup dead at the scene of the accident.

According to Google Maps, Highway 59 runs north and south through Sugar Land, which is about 26 miles southwest of downtown Houston.

Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
