On or about Monday, June 7th, 2021, around 8:37 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Troopers from the DPS said the accident was reported along Highway 59 near Freer in Duval County, Texas.
Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when a car allegedly veered from the northbound lanes and struck a parked tractor-trailer on the southbound side of Highway 59. After the initial impact, the car burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced one individual in the car dead of their injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the crash. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 4 miles east of Freer, which is about 87 miles west of Corpus Christi.
Multiple agencies are still investigating the accident.
