On or about Wednesday, May 11th, 2022, around 1:00 in the afternoon, a major tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 78 and County Road 556 in Collin County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas Department of Public Safety said an as-of-yet unidentified 19-year-old driver was killed when the vehicle they were driving allegedly collided with an 18-wheeler while attempting to pass another semi truck along Highway 78. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead of their injuries a short time after the collision.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Highway 78 and County Road 556 is not far from downtown Farmersville.
Officials are still investigating the collision.
