Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 16th, 2020, around 10:04 at night, an accident between a disabled vehicle and an 18-wheeler left a woman dead. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 94 in Bannockburn, Illinois.
Investigators said one woman died when an 18-wheeler allegely slammed into a disabled vehicle in the center lane of the interstate. Paramedics rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where she died a short time after her arrival. No other injuries were mentioned in the preliminary police statement.
Interstate 94 is eight lanes in the area, with a concrete barrier dividing east and westbound traffic according to Google Maps. Bannockburn is located in the northern part of the greater Chicago area.
Illinois State Police is assisting with the accident investigation.
