On or about Wednesday, July 21st, 2021, around 2:14 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 41-year-old Maricopa, Arizona resident. Troopers from the CHP said the accident was reported along the Interstate 10 Freeway in Blythe, California.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said a 41-year-old man was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck him when it veered off the side of the road and onto the shoulder. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 60-year-old Samuel Garcia, who was taken to the hospital after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 runs east and west through the center of Blythe in eastern Riverside County, which is about 223 miles east of Los Angeles near the border of Arizona.

Police are still investigating the incident.
