Details:
On or about Friday, July 2nd, 2021, around 8:40 at night, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the westbound side of the Katy Freeway (Interstate 10) near the exchange with Mason Road in Katy, Texas.
Officers said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when their car allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the inside shoulder of the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 (Katy Freeway) runs east and west through Harris County, with the scene of the accident roughly 29 miles west of downtown Houston.
Police are still investigating.
