Details:
On or about Thursday, December 9th, 2021, around 2:30 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of one individual. Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Interstate 15 not far from Bernardo Drive in Escondido, California.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the car they were in allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer on I-15. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the car dead of their injuries a short time after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if the victim died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 15 cuts north and south through the center of Escondido, which is about 30 miles north of downtown San Diego.
Multiple agencies are still investigating the collision.
