On or about Thursday, October 28th, 2021, around 5:23 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 32-year-old man. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 17 near the exchange with Bethany Home Road in Phoenix, Arizona.
Officers from the area said an as-of-yet unidentified 32-year-old man was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the southbound lanes of I-17. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead of his injuries when they arrived at the scene of the incident. Police did not mention any other injuries or vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 17 runs north and south through Phoenix, with the scene of the accident located a short distance north of downtown.
Police are still examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
