One Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on Interstate 30 in Mount Pleasant

On or about Thursday, June 17th, 2021, around 2:00 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left one person dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 30 near Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified 64-year-old man was killed when the tractor-trailer he was in allegedly drove off the side of Interstate 30 and slammed into a light pole a short distance off the pavement. After the initial accident, the tractor-trailer burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 30 runs east and west through the center of Mount Pleasant, which is about 117 miles northeast of Dallas.

Investigators hope to release more information as soon as it becomes available.
