Details:
On or about Monday, October 18th, 2021, a major accident between a police patrol vehicle, a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Authorities said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 4 in Auburndale, Florida.
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the motorcycle he was driving allegedly hit a police patrol vehicle that had pulled out from a construction zone. After the collision with the police vehicle, the motorcyclist was thrown into the lanes of traffic where he was struck by a passing tractor-trailer. Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead of his injuries at the scene.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 4 runs east and west through the north side of Auburndale, which is about 57 miles southwest of downtown Orlando.
State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene.
