Details:
On or about Thursday, January 7th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 27-year-old man dead. Highway Patrol spokespeople said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 4 in Polk County, Florida.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said an unidentified 27-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a passing tractor-trailer as they were walking in or near the roadway. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene of the incident. Authorities indicated the victim may have been hit by several other vehicles after the initial accident.
Interstate 4 cuts through the center of Polk County running north and south. Polk County is located about 53 miles east of Tampa.
Police hope to release more information at a later date.
